Digital biodiversity tools for public good

We believe that providing open source tools that are free of charge will unlock the greatest benefits for native biodiversity.

This is why we are part of the global Digital Public Goods movement.

Digital public goods (DPGs) can boost progress toward reversing biodiversity decline because they provide:

  • Adoptability - DPGs can be freely adopted.

  • Scalability - adopting and scaling successful DPGs saves resources and lessens risk.

  • Adaptability - DPGs can be adapted to different situations.

  • Collaboration - through communities of practice.

  • Project Sustainability - sharing of adaptations and iterations keeps projects up-to-speed

  • Transparency and Accountability - the open-source licensing of DPGs means that their code base can be independently scrutinised and audited.

Digital public goods also avoid privatisation of tools and solutions.
