Research plans for the future

We currently lead the technological charge for prioritisation of ecological restoration options that will make a big difference for the biodiversity crisis. But we haven’t yet sunk our teeth into the climate crisis: that’s next.

Our next endeavour is right around the corner and it’s exciting!

We want to extend our digital toolkit by using artificial intelligence, remote sensing and modelling to identify the best ecosystem reconstruction options that will benefit biodiversity AND protect society from climate change-intensified natural hazards like flooding and fire.

By identifying and reconstructing the best-performing ecosystems in the best places, we can increase Aotearoa New Zealand’s resilience to major economic damage through a nature-based solution called Blue-Green Infrastructure.

We know what we need to do and we believe that we can help iwi, government, banks, insurance companies, community groups and industry to be empowered and resilient.

We are seeking funding to expand our toolkit in this next chapter of our mahi. Would you like to help us?
