Hall’s tōtara/silver beech-kāmahi-southern rātā forest

Tōtara and kaikawaka poke through a canopy of silver beech, kāmahi and southern rātā. At the lowest elevations rimu is scattered about. At higher elevations, mountain beech, broadleaf and pink pine are more common.
The natural range of Hall’s tōtara/silver beech–kāmahi–southern rātā forest is 3,872 km2 across mountain slopes of mountains across Buller and northern West Coast south to about the Taramakau River, mostly on the Paparoa and Victoria Ranges.
The projected natural range of Hall’s tōtara/silver beech–kāmahi–southern rātā forest across Aotearoa is 368,895 hectares.
